Group Evaluation

Hey guys!

So I am still designing my cover layouts but I wanted to inform you all about something I did in class today.

Today my teacher split my class into groups and we all spent about 10 minutes per person talking to each other about our project’s. I found this extremely helpful because having to create, design, and produce a magazine can be challenging especially doing it on your own and for the first time. During class, I talked about my project and some ideas I had and my classmates were very honest with me by telling me how I can improve them and actually giving me some new ideas and ways I can make my magazine successful.

During class, I also learned a few new things. I learned how to change the background, font, and pretty much anything that has to do with my blog to make it represent me. My teacher taught me how to edit and format my blog posts so the words were presented smoothly and not in one huge horizontal line. Finally, one of my classmates informed me that you can screenshot pictures first and then upload them to your blog to eliminate the chance of the images not loading.

I am definitely going to take all the advice and criticism to heart and just find new ways to make my magazine the best it can be. Check back soon for the cover layouts!

Food Ideas!

Hey guys!

So I have been thinking about what I should name my magazine and I came up with… Nutritious and Delicious!

Now that I have my magazine name, I have to start planning the magazine. I am going to research different layout designs for the cover, table of contents, and a two-page spread. I also have to decide what cover story I want to write about. I want to feature meals that are both nutritious and delicious hence my magazine name. I will have a variety of breakfast, lunch and dinner choices along with healthy snacks. Also I plan on including nutrition information. These will be recipes that are easy to make with little time in the kitchen.

My top ideas are:

  • Cauliflower crusted pizza

  • Turkey Meatloaf

  • Chicken Stir Fry

  • Gluten Free Cookies

  • Creative Fruit Salad Ideas

  • Breakfast Bars

  • Protein Shakes

  • Unique Salads

I am going to design some cover layouts and let you all see them in my next post so look out for it!

Topic Reveal

Hey guys!

So like I promised in my last post, I am going to reveal the topic I have chosen. Drum roll please… I have decided... to do my magazine project on…. food, but not just any food, healthy option foods. I have been currently watching what I have been eating and am realizing all the unhealthy choices I have been making. I want to make this magazine for people like me who can easily substitute the unhealthy foods they are eating now with healthier still yummy options.

Now that I have my topic, I need to come up with a magazine name. I want to incorporate both the healthy eating and delicious food aspect. Purely Foods and Nutrilicious are two possible ideas I have for my magazine but will come up with some more names and eventually decide on one.

I found these 5 healthy eating magazines:

Going to do some more research but super excited that I decided on a topic and can now get to the fun parts. Check back to see what I decide to name my magazine!

Top 5

Hey guys!

So as you all know I’m doing a project in my AICE Media Studies class where I am asked to plan, design, and produce a magazine spread. I have been conducting some research and been looking up examples of different kinds of magazine topics and layouts. As I shared in my previous blog posts, I’ve researched different food and travel magazines. After looking into some other topics, I thought of maybe doing a fashion or fitness magazine would be interesting too. I also enjoy reading teen magazines so maybe doing the project based on things teens are interested in would be fun. I know time is running out and I must choose a topic very soon.

My top 5 magazines from each of the five topics I mentioned above are:

https://www.seventeen.com/

https://www.foodnetwork.com/magazine

https://www.travelandleisure.com/

https://www.vogue.com/

https://www.shape.com/

As you all can see this decision is not going to be easy because of all the great options!

Look out for my next post as I will be revealing what kind of magazine I will be choosing to create for the project.

Marketing Campaign Summary

Hey guys!

I know I haven't talked to you guys in a while but I wanted to share something I just finished working on with you all. I recently just finished a marketing campaign project. For this project, my group and I were assigned an already existing song and had to come up with a new artist and create a marketing plan that would help get our new artist out to the public. We had to forget who initially wrote the song, what the existing music video looked like, and how the song was presented already.

There was much research that went into this project. We had to research the genre, target audience, different ways of marketing and distribution, and overall how we could appeal to the target audience and get them to feel as passionate about the artist as we all did. With all this research, we then created a marketing plan. The marketing plan had to be precise and captivating in order to help our artist become successful in the music industry. My group and I created accounts on social platforms, merchandise, an album cover, a website, and even a website, https://theorieusa.wixsite.com/website. Here are some pictures of our creations!

I learned a lot of useful information from this project. I learned that you MUST conduct research first. All the decisions that were made were backed up by research. Another thing I learned was coming up with a target audience is extremely important and should be the first step into trying to market and distribute anything. There are different ways to target different audiences so for example my primary target audience was teens and young adults, ages 16-25, who love alternative music. So a great way I targeted them was marketing the artist on social media platforms like Instagram and Twitter and an amazing way to distribute the music was through streaming sites like Spotify and Apple Music. The last thing I learned was you have to be creative and think of unique ideas because that is what is going to intrigue people and help you stand out from everyone else.

I hope you enjoy this blog post and can’t wait to talk to you all soon!!
