Representation

Hey guys, I'm back with a new post! Today's topic is about representation especially how the media represents chefs. They usually wear a white chef's hat and coat. They have a lot of creativity, are normally seen as being both genders, and have gone or are going to culinary school. They are always working in a big kitchen filled with metal pots and pan, other chefs, and kitchen appliances. They generally are exposed to many diverse ingredients.

One example of how the are represented through the media can be seen in the movie Ratatouille. In this movie, the chefs all wear white chef hats and coats. They are all responsible for preparing items on the menu. All the chefs are very precise when following the recipes to ensure the quality of the food is at its best. Typically, most of them are organized to make their job easy. They must be clean and follow safety standard to guarantee that the food they are cooking is safe and delicious to eat. Another example of how they are represented can be found in multiple cooking shows but Top Chef in particular. The environment is very intense as they are responsible for all the food given to the customers. Also, they are seen wearing the chef coat and are surrounded by typical kitchen appliances and tools. Almost always chefs are on a time limit because of the demands they must meet. The chefs are attentive to their dish, making sure that it is up to standard.

I feel as if these representations are fair. To be successful, you must meet certain standard to secure customer loyalty. For chefs, its essential to wear proper gear so nothing gets in the food and to protect their own clothes. Metal pots and pan are generally used to cook the food in a hot oven or stove because metal is durable. I would retain the strict rules they must abide by. These rules are put in place to secure the safety of preparing the food and making sure the customer's health is not at risk. I also would keep the intense environment because without a time limit the chefs would not stay focused and on task. I would challenge what they wear. I believe that as long as they wear safe and nonflammable clothes, they should be allowed to wear what they please.

Thanks for reading this latest blog. Look out for the next one!
